Ideal way to wash saree is using cold and plain water and must avoid using soap for first three washes. You can even wash saree with protein shampoo which will help in preserving its true nature. While washing do not twist or wring saree as doing this can loose its sheen and moreover it will give your saree permanent wrinkles. Once you are done with washing then quickly roll saree in clean towel or cotton cloth. It will minimize chances of twisting and wringing plus also provide better absorption.

Tips for removing stains

In case of stains, first wash saree with cold water and for hard stain you can even use brush and petrol along with soft cloth. For better result, stained silk should be taken for dry cleaning as soon as possible. In case of nail polish stain, use acetone for removing stains and for lipstick stains, you can prefer using dry cleaning fluids. Use talc for removing greasy stains and it should be brushed off ending with applying stain remover.
